Aid Teams Deployed to Northern Afghanistan Following Deadly Earthquake

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says that, in collaboration with international humanitarian organizations, it has begun deploying aid teams to northern Afghan provinces affected by last night’s earthquake.
According to an official statement from the agency, rapid response teams are arriving in the affected areas to carry out rescue operations and distribute emergency aid to families impacted by the quake. The powerful tremor struck several provinces in northern Afghanistan late last night, causing both casualties and property damage.
OCHA has warned that the death toll may rise, as the exact number of fatalities, injuries, and those affected has not yet been determined. Some aid organizations working on the ground have also reported delays in reaching certain areas due to damaged roads and disrupted phone communications.
Meanwhile, the Taliban administration has yet to demonstrate adequate preparedness or capability to effectively respond to natural disasters. Its past performance in managing similar crises has raised serious concerns among both residents and international relief workers.
