Over 500 Police Graduates Complete Taliban Training in Northern Afghanistan

The Taliban administration has announced that 507 police officers from the provinces of Balkh, Jawzjan, Faryab, Sar-e Pol, and Samangan have graduated after completing ideological, professional, and technical training at the group’s training center in Balkh province.

The graduation ceremony, held on an undisclosed date, was attended by high-ranking Taliban officials, including Qari Rohullah Ubaida, the Taliban’s General Commander of Education and Training, and Sheikh Mohammad Saber, the head of the Balkh training center.

During the event, the graduates were urged to fully comply with Islamic orders, follow senior Taliban leaders, and uphold Islamic appearances—a reflection of the group’s prioritization of ideological conformity over professional competence within its security apparatus.

The continuation of such programs under the guise of “professional training” illustrates the Taliban’s ideological focus instead of addressing Afghanistan’s security and expert needs. The absence of independent oversight and the instrumental use of security structures have raised serious concerns about the future of law enforcement institutions in Afghanistan.
