Kishindeh-Zari Road Reopens After Reconstruction in Balkh Province

The Public Works Directorate of Balkh Province has announced the completion of reconstruction and leveling work on a 28-kilometer road connecting the Kishindeh and Zari districts. The route has now been officially reopened for public use.
According to the announcement, the project was completed within one month using personnel and machinery owned by the Public Works Directorate. Previously, the road was in a severely deteriorated condition, making travel extremely difficult for both vehicles and local residents.
A formal ceremony was held to mark the reopening, attended by Mawlawi Abdulsaboor Saber, Director of Public Works in Balkh, along with several other local Taliban officials. Despite limited investment, the project is seen largely as symbolic and is unlikely to meet the fundamental needs of the local population.
While residents have expressed satisfaction with the completion of the road, concerns persist over the lack of essential infrastructure, poor project oversight, and the ineffectiveness of similar past initiatives. Despite claims of executing public welfare projects, the Taliban administration has yet to gain public trust regarding transparent and efficient management of development efforts.
