Civilian Deaths Continue in Gaza Despite Ceasefire, Says Health Ministry

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza has reported that, despite the announcement of a ceasefire, attacks have continued, resulting in the deaths of dozens more civilians. On Saturday, the ministry confirmed that 22 people had died over the past two days, including five newly killed individuals and 17 bodies recently recovered from under the rubble. Additionally, nine others were injured and taken to hospitals.
Health officials stated that an unknown number of victims remain trapped under the debris or in inaccessible areas. Due to unsafe conditions and operational obstacles, rescue and civil defense teams have been unable to retrieve the bodies.
According to official data, since the start of the devastating war on October 7, 2023, the death toll in the Gaza Strip has surpassed 68,000, with nearly 171,000 others wounded.
During the ceasefire period, which began on October 11, 2025, 226 people have been killed and 594 injured. In addition, the total number of recovered bodies has reached 499, with the most recent being 30 bodies of martyrs handed over by Israeli forces through Red Cross mediation.
The ongoing violence against Gaza’s civilian population—who remain under siege and endure severe physical and psychological hardship—raises serious questions about Israel’s stated commitment to the ceasefire and the muted response of the international community to repeated human rights violations. With the rising death toll, calls have intensified for an end to war crimes and for more effective protection of civilians.
