Putin Announces Successful Test of Nuclear-Powered Poseidon Torpedo

Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced the successful test of a nuclear-powered autonomous torpedo known as ‘Poseidon,’ hailing the achievement during a meeting with wounded Russian soldiers in Moscow.
Putin stated that the test, conducted on Tuesday, marked the first time the torpedo was launched from a nuclear-powered submarine. He noted that the device was activated using a nuclear power unit and demonstrated unprecedented depth and speed capabilities compared to other similar weapon systems globally.
According to Russian media reports, the Poseidon torpedo can contaminate ocean waters with radioactive material, potentially rendering coastal regions uninhabitable. The precise technical specifications of the weapon have not yet been disclosed by Moscow.
Describing the development as a “tremendous success,” Putin claimed that Poseidon surpasses the capabilities of the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile and cannot be intercepted by any existing defense systems.
While Russian officials continue to focus on showcasing their military strength in Ukraine, the ongoing war has brought significant human costs and raised serious global security concerns due to repeated threats of nuclear weapon use. The Taliban administration, which has consistently portrayed itself as a close ally of Russia, has so far remained silent, issuing no independent response to Moscow’s latest nuclear activities.
