Taliban Warns Pakistan of Harsh Response Amid Escalating Border Tensions

Abdul Mateen Qani, spokesperson for the Taliban-run Interior Ministry, has issued a stark warning to Pakistan, threatening a severe response to any attacks from the neighboring country. He declared that such a reaction would serve as a “lesson” for Pakistan and a “warning” for other nations.

Qani made these remarks during an interview with Ariana News, a media outlet closely aligned with the Taliban administration. In the interview, he used inflammatory language, referring to Pakistan as the “illegitimate offspring of Britain.”

His comments come amid mounting tensions between Islamabad and the Taliban-led government in Kabul, particularly following a recent uptick in violence along their shared border. Pakistan has accused the Taliban of providing safe havens on Afghan soil for members of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a militant group targeting Pakistani forces.

While the Taliban has consistently denied these allegations, analysts argue that longstanding ties between the Afghan Taliban and TTP continue to fuel regional instability, raising concerns within the international community.

The aggressive rhetoric from Taliban officials, especially towards neighboring states, has sparked worries about the group’s capacity to manage foreign affairs responsibly and diplomatically. Experts warn that such behavior could further isolate Afghanistan globally and have detrimental consequences for its population.
