EU Provides Aid to Afghan Families Deported from Iran

As large numbers of Afghan families face severe hardships following their deportation from Iran, teams from the French humanitarian organization Solidarités International, backed by European Union humanitarian aid, have been deployed to the Iranian-Afghan border to assist them.
According to officials from the organization, many returnee families arrive in Afghanistan with minimal possessions and in an exhausted physical and psychological condition. This situation stems from the Iranian government’s pressure tactics and the lack of support infrastructure within Afghanistan.
In the initial phase of assistance, the European support teams have provided clean drinking water, hygiene services, and other basic necessities to these families. The aid is being offered amid a lack of response from the Taliban administration, which is expected to take primary responsibility for supporting the returnees.
International organizations, including the European Union, have consistently voiced concern about the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and urged for unimpeded access to vulnerable populations, particularly in border areas. However, the Taliban authorities have imposed restrictions on aid agencies’ operations and have yet to respond adequately to the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
