Afghanistan and Kazakhstan Discuss Expanding Economic Cooperation

The Taliban-run Ministry of Industry and Commerce has announced that talks aimed at strengthening economic ties were held during the “Afghanistan-Kazakhstan Business Connectivity Forum” in the Kazakh city of Shymkent. The primary focus of the meeting was on enhancing economic relations, facilitating joint investment opportunities, and increasing trade volume between the two countries.
Nooruddin Azizi, Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce under the Taliban administration, stated during the forum that Afghanistan could serve as a bridge between Central and South Asia, playing a significant role in promoting regional trade and economic integration.
At the forum, both Afghan and Kazakh representatives pledged to reinforce trade relations and boost exports between the two nations.
While the Taliban administration aims to position Afghanistan as a regional transit and trade hub, the lack of international recognition, banking restrictions, and ongoing security challenges under its rule have hindered sustainable investment and balanced economic growth.
