Trump’s Arrival in Malaysia Met with Protests Over Gaza Support

U.S. President Donald Trump was met with widespread public protests upon his arrival in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. Demonstrators gathered in the city holding banners expressing their opposition to Trump’s presence.
Trump’s five-day diplomatic visit to Asia includes stops in Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea, with the primary focus reportedly on trade issues. He is scheduled to attend the ASEAN Summit as an honorary guest.
A reporter at the scene told BBC News that much of the public dissent stems from the United States’ support for Israel in the ongoing war in Gaza. Given Malaysia’s Muslim-majority population, many Malaysians strongly condemn Washington’s backing of Israeli attacks.
During his visit, Trump is expected to meet with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to discuss trade agreements and the ongoing peace talks between Thailand and Cambodia. He also wrote on the Truth Social platform that the formal signing of the Thailand-Cambodia peace deal would take place immediately following his arrival in Kuala Lumpur.
Observers believe Trump is seeking to credit his foreign policy for the success of the agreement, though some analysts view the move as largely symbolic and politically motivated.
