Pakistan Urges Taliban to Take Clear Action Against Militant Groups

During recent security talks between Pakistan and the Taliban administration that concluded yesterday in Istanbul, the Pakistani delegation pressed the Taliban to take concrete measures to curb militant attacks originating from Afghan soil. Pakistani media reports indicate that the main demand of the delegation was to prevent infiltration and planned assaults by groups such as Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) operating from Afghanistan.
According to The Express Tribune, although the movement of TTP members was not the primary focus of the discussions, the Pakistani delegation emphasized the necessity of specific actions to counter such threats and is now awaiting a clear response from the Taliban authorities. The second round of these negotiations ended on Saturday in Istanbul, with both sides agreeing to continue talks.
The meeting, mediated by the Turkish government, focused on addressing regional security threats and extremism. Key discussion points included developing a framework for border management cooperation, combating terrorism, and ensuring mutual security. Both parties agreed that further discussions would take place in the coming days.
Pakistani sources reported that the Islamabad delegation adopted a firm stance against threats posed by the TTP and affiliated groups, urging the Taliban administration to dismantle militant safe havens operating within Afghanistan.
Pakistan has warned that it will not tolerate the activities of terrorist groups along its borders and expects the Taliban to fulfill its responsibilities in ensuring regional security.
