Taliban Envoy in Kyrgyzstan Attends Qatar National Day Event in Bishkek

Maulawi Abdul Shakoor Haqqani, the chargé d’affaires of the Taliban administration in Kyrgyzstan, attended a ceremony in Bishkek held to mark Qatar’s National Day. According to the Taliban-affiliated embassy in Kyrgyzstan, Haqqani expressed satisfaction with the friendly relationship between Afghanistan and Qatar and voiced hope that political and economic cooperation between the two countries would strengthen in the future.
The embassy also stated that the Taliban envoy held talks with several ambassadors and diplomats from other countries on political, economic, and trade-related topics. However, no further details have been released to the media regarding the content of these meetings or the nature of the proposed collaborations.
Qatar has played a mediating role in Afghanistan’s political negotiations in recent years. However, since the Taliban regained power in Afghanistan, the country’s relations with regional and international actors have remained uncertain amid the lack of official recognition. Political analysts believe that such diplomatic engagements by Taliban representatives are primarily aimed at gaining international legitimacy, even as many countries continue to refrain from formally recognizing the Taliban administration.
