Two Armed Men Killed in Clash with Taliban in Balkh Province

Two armed men were killed in a confrontation with Taliban forces in Balkh province after allegedly robbing passengers on a transit vehicle, according to the Taliban-run police command in the region.
The incident took place last night (Thursday, October 22) in the Chahi district. Local authorities reported that during the robbery, the assailants managed to seize weapons belonging to the passengers—two of whom were affiliated with Taliban security forces.
Officials stated that a total of four Kalashnikov rifles were recovered from the suspects, including two that had previously belonged to the Taliban members.
The Taliban administration claimed that the two individuals were repeat offenders, accused of carrying out similar thefts in various areas. However, no personal details or identities of the deceased have been disclosed.
The Taliban, which has effectively dismantled the country’s formal judicial and legal institutions, often deals with suspects outside of legal proceedings. The circumstances surrounding the killings have raised further concerns over the transparency and legitimacy of the group’s methods of administering justice.
