Taliban Welcomes Diplomatic Moves by India and Qatar Toward Engagement

The Taliban administration has expressed enthusiasm over recent diplomatic developments involving India and Qatar. Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban, told TOLOnews that the administration welcomes the steps taken by the two regional powers to enhance relations with Kabul.

Mujahid described these developments as a foundation for ‘greater trust’ between Kabul, New Delhi, and Doha. He noted that the Taliban administration will focus on expanding relations with both countries. He also stated that strengthening diplomatic interactions would lead to closer political positions and cooperation.

According to official sources, Qatar on Tuesday appointed its ambassador and special representative to Kabul, while India announced that it has upgraded its technical office in Kabul to a mission with embassy-level authority.

These decisions come despite the fact that the Taliban administration has not been officially recognized by any country and lacks formal international legal legitimacy. Nevertheless, some nations are pursuing limited diplomatic engagement with the administration due to regional security concerns and strategic interests.
