Saudi Arabia Welcomes Taliban-Pakistan Ceasefire Agreement

The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the signing of a ceasefire agreement between the Taliban administration and the government of Pakistan, describing it as a positive step towards de-escalating border tensions.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the ministry expressed hope that the agreement would lead to lasting peace and stability between the Taliban and Pakistan. Eastern Afghanistan’s border with Pakistan has witnessed sporadic clashes and military tensions in recent years, raising regional concerns.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry also expressed appreciation for the diplomatic mediation by Qatar and Turkey, which played a role in facilitating the agreement, calling their efforts valuable in promoting regional stability.
Riyadh reiterated its support for all regional and international initiatives aimed at providing security and prosperity for the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan, referencing the fragile situation along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
The ceasefire agreement was signed on Saturday night in Qatar between representatives of the Taliban administration and the Pakistani government. While many see the agreement as tentative and fragile, some governments view it as a step towards easing border crises.
