Russia, Kuwait and Jordan Welcome Taliban-Pakistan Ceasefire Deal

Reactions continue to pour in following the ceasefire agreement signed between Pakistan and the Taliban administration, with Russia, Kuwait, and Jordan joining the list of supporters. These countries issued separate statements praising the accord.
Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement saying the Taliban administration and Pakistan’s willingness to resolve tensions through dialogue and diplomacy laid the foundation for bilateral peace and regional security. Moscow also called for broader cooperation between Kabul and Islamabad, particularly in combating terrorism.
Jordan also expressed optimism about the deal, describing it as a positive step towards strengthening joint mechanisms for lasting peace and stability between the two countries. Fouad Al-Majali, spokesperson for Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, praised the mediating role of Qatar and Turkey, including their hosting of the negotiations.
Kuwait joined the list of supporters as well, with its Ministry of Foreign Affairs calling the agreement a constructive step towards ending bilateral tensions. Kuwait expressed hope that the process would meet the security and stability needs of both nations. Like Jordan, Kuwait also acknowledged and appreciated the continued efforts and support of Qatar and Turkey in facilitating the peace talks.
Meanwhile, the ceasefire initiative brokered by foreign governments has sparked fresh questions about the role of the Afghan people in these negotiations. Experts argue that the absence of public representation from Afghanistan in such agreements undermines their domestic legitimacy.
