Taliban Claims Pakistan Agreed Not to Support Anti-Taliban Groups in Ceasefire Deal

Suhail Shaheen, the Taliban’s representative in Qatar, has announced that under a recent ceasefire agreement between the Taliban and Pakistan, the Islamabad government has pledged not to support groups opposing Taliban rule.
Shaheen made the announcement on Saturday, October 19, through his official X (formerly Twitter) account, stating that in return, the Taliban have also committed not to support opposition groups operating against Pakistan. According to him, the agreement also includes Pakistan’s promise to respect Afghanistan’s territorial integrity and to refrain from carrying out operations against civilians and civilian infrastructure inside Afghan territory.
Shaheen further revealed that the next round of talks between Taliban representatives and Pakistani officials is scheduled to be held in Turkey. However, no specific details regarding the composition of the delegations or the exact date of the meeting have been disclosed.
So far, Pakistani officials have not responded to these claims. The lack of clarity surrounding the terms of the agreement and Islamabad’s silence has raised serious questions about the transparency and practical commitments of both parties.
