Taliban Orders Media to Refer to Pakistan’s Government as ‘Military Regime’

The Taliban’s intelligence agency has issued a new directive requiring domestic television networks across Afghanistan to refer to Pakistan’s interim government as the ‘military regime of Pakistan’.

According to media sources, the Taliban administration has communicated this order to all visual media outlets, particularly those operating in Kabul and other provinces, stressing that the terminology must be adopted immediately in their broadcasts.

In addition, the Taliban have instructed private media organizations to align their programming content more closely with the group’s demands. This move has raised new concerns about increasing censorship, erosion of press freedom, and diminishing media independence in Afghanistan.

Over the past two years, the Taliban government has imposed strict regulations on media operations in the country, effectively dismantling many of the press freedoms established after 2001. Media experts say such directives violate principles of free and impartial journalism, turning media into propaganda tools.
