Taliban Defense Ministry Spokesman Visits Contested Durand Line

Mawlawi Enayatullah Khwarazmi, spokesman for the Taliban’s Ministry of Defense and head of the ministry’s media department, has recently traveled to Afghanistan’s eastern region and visited several points along the disputed Durand Line.

The visit comes amid ongoing tensions over the Durand Line, a contentious border between Afghanistan and Pakistan that has long been a source of political and security disputes. Taliban sources have not provided details about the purpose of the visit.

The presence of Taliban military officials at the border coincides with recent reports of increased Pakistani troop deployment and construction of facilities on the other side of the line, raising concerns among residents of border regions.

So far, the Taliban administration has not taken a clear stance on asserting national sovereignty in response to Pakistan’s military activities along the Durand Line. Such visits are widely perceived as symbolic and lacking in concrete outcomes.
