92 Afghan Migrant Families Deported from Iran and Pakistan

Local branches of the Taliban administration in Afghanistan’s Nimruz and Herat provinces reported that on Saturday, October 17, a total of 92 Afghan migrant families returned to the country from neighboring Iran and Pakistan. According to Bakhtar News Agency, 28 families entered via the Silk Bridge crossing in Nimruz, while 64 families arrived through the Islam Qala crossing in Herat.
The development comes amid escalating border tensions between the Taliban administration and Pakistan. Many Afghan refugees facing forced deportation have been stranded at the Torkham and Spin Boldak border crossings, where they are experiencing significant hardships.
The expulsion of Afghan migrants from Iran and Pakistan continues with growing intensity, as thousands are being sent back involuntarily and without adequate preparation. The lack of infrastructure and institutional support has created serious challenges for returning families.
In the midst of this complex humanitarian situation, the absence of a clear and effective plan by the Taliban administration to address the needs of displaced people has raised widespread human rights and humanitarian concerns.
