Two Taliban Members Killed in Kabul Attack

The Afghanistan Freedom Front has claimed responsibility for an attack carried out on the evening of Thursday, October 15, in the fifth security district of Kabul. According to the group, the operation targeted a Hilux vehicle carrying Taliban-affiliated fighters in the Kot-e Sangi area, on Kompany Road.
A statement released by the group said that two Taliban members were killed and one other fighter was wounded as a result of the attack. Independent sources have yet to confirm or deny the incident.
In recent weeks, small but frequent attacks by armed opposition groups against the Taliban have intensified, particularly in Kabul and several other provinces. The Afghanistan Freedom Front is among the groups that have been operating covertly against the Taliban since the group’s return to power in August 2021.
Residents of the capital and other cities have expressed growing concern over the rise in insecurity and targeted attacks. In the absence of an elected and accountable government, such incidents reflect deep security gaps within the Taliban administration and the group’s inability to ensure public safety.
