Iran Welcomes Ceasefire Agreement Between Taliban and Pakistan

Iran has welcomed the recently announced ceasefire agreement between the Taliban administration and the Pakistani government, calling for immediate direct talks to resolve disputes peacefully.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Esmail Baghaei, spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, expressed Tehran’s support for the ceasefire and reiterated the need for diplomatic initiatives aimed at reducing tensions and promoting regional stability.
He emphasized mutual respect for the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of both countries, suggesting that existing concerns should be addressed through dialogue and understanding. Baghaei said Iran is willing to mediate in efforts to de-escalate the situation.
Baghaei also voiced concern over the harm caused to civilians amid recent border tensions and urged tangible efforts to curb extremist activities and enhance regional security cooperation.
Separately, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Wednesday called for greater unity among Islamic nations, stating that such conflicts run counter to the will of the people and are the result of destructive policies by the enemies of Islam.
Clashes between the Taliban and the Pakistani government in recent days have led to casualties among civilians and the temporary closure of several border crossings. The ceasefire comes at a time when fears of growing instability in the region are mounting.
