Afghanistan and Uzbekistan Sign $210 Million Cooperation Agreements

The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment announced that during a visit by a 100-member delegation consisting of Taliban officials and Afghan traders to Namangan province in Uzbekistan, cooperation documents worth $210 million were signed.
According to the organization, these documents were signed alongside discussions on various trade topics between the two sides and include aspects of commercial and investment cooperation. No further details were provided regarding the types of projects or specific sectors covered by these agreements.
The Chamber of Commerce and Investment added that these agreements could pave the way for expanding economic relations between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan, one of Afghanistan’s northern neighboring countries, has maintained trade relations with Kabul in recent years.
Private sector activists have repeatedly emphasized that developing regional economic ties can play an important role in improving market conditions and creating job opportunities in the country; a matter of special importance for Afghanistan’s economic stability under current circumstances.
