Pakistan Reopens Spin Boldak Crossing for Afghan Refugees

The Taliban administration in Kandahar province has confirmed that after several days of closure, Pakistan has allowed a large number of stranded refugees at the Spin Boldak border crossing to return to Afghanistan.
Ali Mohammad Haqmal, the Information and Culture Officer in Spin Boldak, told Tolonews TV on Sunday that this action applies only to refugees, and the crossing remains closed to other movements, including commercial transit and local residents.
In recent weeks, the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan has been repeatedly closed due to political tensions and border clashes. This situation trapped thousands of Afghan refugees who intended to return to their country in the border area.
Although the partial reopening of the crossing is seen as a positive step, the continued closure overshadows the basic needs of the people, especially in border provinces, and raises doubts about the Taliban administration’s humanitarian commitments in managing the refugee crisis.
