Amrullah Saleh Says Pakistan Admitted to Supporting Taliban

Amrullah Saleh, former Vice President of Afghanistan, stated in recent remarks that the recent admissions by Pakistani officials expressing regret over their past support for the Taliban are, in fact, an unconscious confirmation of all the evidence Afghan sources have presented over the years. He emphasized that Pakistan has never adhered to international sanctions and has facilitated the Taliban in various ways, ranging from military training to treating the wounded, housing families of Taliban members, conducting financial transactions, forging documents including Pakistani passports, and linking the Taliban with religious networks and seminaries in Pakistan.
Saleh added that Pakistani diplomats have worked to promote the Taliban’s views in international forums and have even sometimes described Afghanistan’s social structure as “unnatural” without the presence of the Taliban. He believes that now is the time for journalists and audio-visual content producers in Pakistan, citing his past speeches, writings, and analyses, to uncover the strategic misdeeds of that country’s security institutions — if they dare to do so.
Referring to the start of a new round of geopolitical competition following the signing of the agreement and the opening of the Taliban office in Doha, Amrullah Saleh stressed that Pakistan ignored this significant shift and over-relied on the wisdom of its military commanders. Now that the instrumental use of extremist groups has lost much of its effect, the Pakistani armed forces have directly intervened.
He believes that the Taliban today hold a lower status compared to when their “Central Committee” operated in the city of Quetta (the Quetta Shura), and their true nature has been exposed. However, the world, especially regional countries, still ignores the pain and anger of non-Taliban Afghanistan.
In conclusion, Saleh warned that any investment in an Afghanistan ruled by the Taliban is like trying to “heat ice balls”—a futile effort doomed to fail.
