Afghan Investors Urge Iran to Remove Barriers Hindering Economic Activities

In a joint meeting between members of the Afghanistan-Herat Chamber and a group of Afghan investors in the city of Mashhad, the challenges facing the economic activities of Afghan nationals were the central topic of discussion. Participants, highlighting numerous difficulties, called for practical actions from Iranian governmental agencies to reduce obstacles to investment.
Seyed Jafar Seyedabadi, Director General of Foreign Nationals and Migrants Affairs in Khorasan Razavi Province, after listening to the investors’ remarks, emphasized the crucial role of Afghan nationals in the economic ties between the two countries. He promised that the issues raised would be examined and that necessary measures would be taken to resolve them.
Mr. Seyedabadi also stated that his office is ready to cooperate with Afghan investors within the framework of the law. He described the interaction between the private sectors of the two nations as an opportunity to establish sustainable economic relations.
Despite these assurances, Afghans conducting economic activities in Iran still face barriers such as legal restrictions, difficulties accessing banking services, and a lack of sufficient guarantees to protect their assets.
The Taliban, having failed to provide necessary facilities and security for investment inside Afghanistan, are considered the main reason for investors migrating to Iran and other countries. These migrants now look with hope to further facilitation in their host countries.
