Taliban Blocks Gulbuddin Hekmatyar’s Travel Abroad, Son Says

Habib-ur-Rahman Hekmatyar, son of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, leader of the Islamic Party, stated in a recent note that the Taliban administration has prevented his father from traveling outside the country. He emphasized that this move reflects the Taliban’s fear of his father’s political activities.
On Saturday, October 12, Habib-ur-Rahman wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) page that while the Taliban have urged all politicians to return to Afghanistan, claiming to ensure security, at the same time they are blocking the foreign travel of the Islamic Party leader.
Habib-ur-Rahman added that the Taliban even fear his father’s conversations with the public and see them as a threat to themselves. He warned other political activists not to trust the Taliban’s promises.
The son of the Islamic Party leader questioned, “Do the Taliban want to bring others back as well to restrict all their activities, travels, and meetings?”
The Taliban administration has banned all political parties and movements, including the Islamic Party, across Afghanistan, a move that has sparked widespread reactions both inside and outside the country.
