Pakistan Closes Spin Boldak Border Crossing Following Clashes with Afghan Forces

The Information Office of Spin Boldak district in Kandahar province announced that the border crossing between Afghanistan and Pakistan has been closed by Pakistani forces. This decision was made following clashes last night between Afghan border guards and Pakistani troops.
According to reports, Afghan border forces launched an operation against Pakistani positions in the border areas in response to what was described as a violation of the country’s national sovereignty. The operation inflicted heavy casualties and significant damage on the Pakistani side.
In the aftermath of these clashes, the key border crossings of Torkham and Spin Boldak, which are among the most vital trade and transit points between the two countries, have been shut down. The closure of these crossings could have widespread economic and humanitarian consequences across the border regions.
The Taliban administration has yet to issue an official response on the matter; however, serious questions have been raised regarding border management, foreign relations, and the administration’s ability to defend the rights of Afghans against interventionist actions by neighboring countries.
