Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar Call for De-escalation Between Pakistan and Taliban Amid Border Tensions

As tensions rise along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar have expressed concern over the worsening situation and called for resolving disputes through dialogue.
Ismail Baqaee, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, urged both sides on Sunday, October 12, to respect each other’s territorial integrity and end tensions through diplomatic talks. He added that Iran is ready to cooperate to facilitate this process.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Saturday evening, October 11, expressing concern over the border clashes between the Taliban administration and Pakistan. The ministry called on both parties to exercise restraint and avoid escalating tensions. It also affirmed its support for regional and international efforts to establish peace and stability.
Additionally, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs voiced concern over increased tensions in the border areas and called for resolving disputes peacefully. Qatar emphasized its support for all efforts aimed at ensuring regional peace and expressed its commitment to cooperation for the welfare and tranquility of the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
These responses came after Pakistan conducted airstrikes over the past three days targeting areas including Kabul and Paktika province, and the Taliban administration carried out retaliatory attacks along the border, intensifying the crisis. The continuation of such instability poses serious risks to regional security and highlights the urgent need for effective diplomatic action.
