Inside Trump’s Nuclear Bunker: America’s Secret Command Center in Colorado Mountains

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, recently opened the doors for the second time to one of his country’s most secretive bunkers, an underground facility located in the Colorado mountains designed as a command center in the event of a Third World War and nuclear threats. Published images of this hidden city reveal unprecedented media access to a facility concealed deep within solid granite rock.
This shelter, known as the “Mountain Complex,” was built to protect U.S. and Canadian political and military leaders from potential nuclear attacks. Construction began during the Cold War, and it is considered one of the safest places on Earth.
A report by Britain’s The Sun states that the complex, reinforced with a 70,000-ton granite shell and layers of strengthened steel, can withstand the most severe atomic explosions—even blasts a thousand times more powerful than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima. The complex is also equipped with thick steel gates, multiple checkpoints, a classified emergency lock system, and a network of winding tunnels.
Inside the bunker, there are power plants, long-term food supplies, underground lakes supplying drinking water, and even stores for everyday needs, ensuring that the U.S. government can continue leadership and command from within this compound in the event of surface-level collapse.
General Gregory Gillott, commander of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), emphasized the strategic value of the bunker, stating that it continues to play a vital role in national security today, just as it did at its inauguration in 1966. The fifteen buildings comprising the 5.1-hectare site are designed to rest on massive springs that absorb shock from nuclear blasts.
In the event of disaster, the complex functions as a “battle deck,” a center for directing U.S. and Canadian forces. According to available information, in a crisis, the U.S. president is first relocated to the White House bunker and then transferred via a special aircraft known as the “Doomsday Jet” to the aforementioned secure location, while other key officials will be moved to backup facilities in Virginia and Pennsylvania.
