Special Envoys of Pakistan and Russia Meet Ahead of Moscow Format Talks on Afghanistan

On the eve of the consultative ‘Moscow Format’ meeting on the Afghan crisis, Muhammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, met with his Russian counterpart Zamir Kabulov in Moscow.
The meeting, aimed at exploring ways to enhance regional cooperation on the situation in Afghanistan, was also attended by Ubaid-ur-Rahman Nizamani, Pakistan’s ambassador to Kabul.
According to reports, the two sides exchanged views on how to improve coordination among regional countries concerning developments in Afghanistan, particularly in security, political, and humanitarian arenas.
The Moscow Format meeting is one of the key regional gatherings involving Afghanistan’s neighboring countries and regional powers. Its objective is to find solutions to Afghanistan’s unstable situation following the Taliban’s return to power. However, the lack of an inclusive and stable government in Afghanistan remains a significant challenge to regional cooperation.
