Two ISIS Khorasan Members Killed in Pakistan’s Balochistan, Sources Say

Sources close to the Taliban intelligence agency reported on Sunday, October 5, that two members of the ISIS Khorasan group were killed in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. The individuals were killed in an attack carried out by an unidentified assailant.
According to Al-Mersad website, a media outlet affiliated with Taliban intelligence, one of the deceased has been identified as Asim Baloch, while the other was reported to be a citizen of Tajikistan. Both had been active in the Mastung area, one of the volatile districts in Balochistan province.
In recent years, Mastung has been the scene of multiple clashes among armed groups. Around two months ago, Pakistani media reported heavy fighting between Baloch militants and ISIS Khorasan members in the same region. Following these incidents, ISIS threatened to retaliate against the Baloch Liberation Army.
The publication of such reports by Taliban-affiliated media appears to be an attempt by the Taliban administration to capitalize on its confrontation with ISIS Khorasan for propaganda purposes. Meanwhile, the Taliban’s actual efforts to prevent the spread of extremism within the country have faced serious questions.
