426 Weapons Seized in Helmand Over Past Several Months Amid Ongoing Conflict

The Helmand Provincial Police Anti-Terrorism Department has announced that over the past five months, multiple intelligence operations have been conducted in the provincial center and districts of Helmand.

According to the department’s information, these operations led to the discovery and seizure of 426 weapons of various types, along with thousands of rounds of light and heavy ammunition.

Local officials reported that in connection with these arms and military equipment, 75 individuals have been arrested and handed over to judicial and legal authorities for further investigation.

Helmand is known as one of the unstable and conflict-affected provinces in southern Afghanistan and has historically been a hotspot for widespread arms smuggling.

Despite announcing this achievement, the Taliban administration has yet to provide clear answers regarding the primary sources of these weapons and how they are distributed across different areas of the country. This lack of transparency has raised concerns about either the administration’s inability or deliberate oversight of the issue.
