Taliban Trade Minister Visits China to Attend International Free Zones Congress

Nooruddin Azizi, the Taliban’s Minister of Commerce, has traveled to China to participate in the 11th International Congress of the World Free Zones Organization. The event is being held from October 10 to 12 in Hainan Province, China, under the theme “Gateways to Global Prosperity: Trade and Sustainable Innovation.”

According to a statement from the Taliban’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Azizi will deliver a speech on the sidelines of the conference and meet with several trade ministers from participating countries. The gathering serves as an opportunity to explore ways to enhance trade cooperation among free zones worldwide.

Although the Taliban administration faces a crisis of international legitimacy, its participation in such forums is seen as an effort to present a more official image. However, many in the international community have yet to recognize the Taliban government and retain significant reservations about its economic policies.

It is worth noting that the previous session of this congress was held last year in Dubai, a major regional hub for free trade.
