Inclusive Human Rights Body Welcomes UN Mechanism to Investigate Human Rights Violations in Afghanistan

The human rights organization “Inclusive” has expressed support for the recent action by the United Nations Human Rights Council to establish an independent international mechanism to investigate and document human rights violations in Afghanistan. The group described this step as an effective move toward ensuring justice and accountability.

According to a statement released on Monday evening, October 6, the organization noted that the UN’s recent decision provides the necessary framework to examine cases of repression and abuse against the Afghan people, especially women and girls.

The statement emphasized that the leadership role of the European Union and the backing of member states that voted in favor of the resolution demonstrate that the international community remains committed to the principles of justice and the rule of law concerning Afghanistan.

“Inclusive” warned that despite a reduction in armed conflicts in the country, an atmosphere of oppression, fear, and insecurity has prevailed in people’s lives. The Taliban administration, with its repressive policies, has contributed to the expansion of poverty, structural discrimination, arbitrary detentions, and enforced disappearances.

Focusing on the situation of Afghan women and girls, the organization highlighted that restricting their access to education and employment, coupled with the closure of civil society spaces, has pushed the country toward a humanitarian crisis.

The statement further mentioned that collecting evidence and preserving documents regarding human rights violations at this critical moment is of vital importance. The international community must use all legal and political avenues to hold perpetrators accountable.

In conclusion, “Inclusive” stressed that the effectiveness of this new mechanism depends on its swift, transparent, and efficient implementation, which must be supported by financial, political, and diplomatic backing from countries worldwide.
