Taliban Ban Male Tailors from Sewing Women’s Clothing in Kandahar

Local sources in Kandahar report that the Taliban have completely banned male tailors from sewing women’s clothing.

According to reports, the order was issued on Sunday, September 21, by officials from the Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice. The officials visited tailoring shops in the Rangrezan area and other parts of Kandahar city, directly warning tailors that men are not permitted to sew garments for women.

Following the directive, many tailoring shops that previously specialized in women’s clothing have been forced to shut down, leaving numerous local workers and artisans facing severe financial difficulties.

According to Etilaat Roz newspaper, the Taliban also detained several tailors last week for sewing women’s clothing. These actions are seen as part of the group’s escalating restrictions on personal freedoms and the economic rights of Afghan citizens under their rule.
