Senior Taliban Intelligence Official Killed in Kabul Attack

A senior intelligence member of the Taliban’s Ministry of Interior was killed in Kabul following a targeted attack by the National Resistance Front (NRF). The operation took place late Friday, September 19, at the Spes Square intersection in the city’s 4th security district, near the Ministry of Interior building.

According to NRF sources, the operation was carried out without any casualties among their fighters or local residents. The attack specifically targeted key Taliban security figures.

The NRF stated that such targeted operations are part of its broader campaign to end the Taliban’s “illegitimate rule” and to liberate Afghanistan, adding that similar missions are being conducted in various parts of the country. The Taliban has not yet issued an official response.

Spes Square is a busy and strategic part of Kabul, surrounded by several key security and former government institutions. The attack in such a location has raised fresh questions about the NRF’s reach and influence within the capital.
