Construction Begins on Building to Preserve Cloak Attributed to Prophet in Logar

The Taliban’s Ministry of Guidance, Hajj and Religious Affairs has announced the start of construction on a building in Pul-e-Alam, the capital of Logar Province, to house and preserve a cloak attributed to the Prophet Muhammad.

According to Bakhtar News Agency, the project is being implemented with a budget of 34 million afghanis allocated by the ministry and under the directive of Taliban leader Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada. Officials said the construction is expected to be completed within six months.

The report provided no further details on the origin or history of the cloak, noting only that it has been kept in Logar for many years.

The Taliban’s decision to prioritize religious projects comes at a time when many Afghans lack access to basic health, education, and livelihood services. Critics have also raised concerns over transparency in budget spending and the absence of public participation in setting development priorities.
