Pakistan Launches Third Phase of Scholarships for Afghan Students

The Pakistani government has initiated a new phase of scholarships under the “Allama Muhammad Iqbal Program” for Afghan youth. According to a statement published on the official website of the International Islamic University Islamabad, the program aims to provide higher education opportunities for Afghanistan’s younger generation.
In this phase, 4,500 Afghan students will benefit from undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs in fields such as medicine, engineering, agriculture, management, and computer science. The scholarships include living allowances, book expenses, accommodation, and tuition coverage.
The program comes at a time when the Taliban administration has imposed severe restrictions over the past two years on girls’ education and higher education, increasing deprivation among Afghan youth—particularly females—and forcing many to seek academic opportunities abroad.
Meanwhile, the Indian government has also announced the opening of registration for 1,000 online scholarships dedicated to Afghan students. These initiatives highlight the urgent need for international educational support and scholarship programs for Afghanistan’s aspiring youth.
